Brenham water is hard, and your pool keeps the evidence

Brenham pulls its water from the aquifers under Washington County, and that water arrives carrying a lot of dissolved calcium. For a kitchen tap that means spots on the glassware. For a pool it means something slower and more expensive.

A pool is an evaporating body of water that you keep topping up. The water leaves as vapour and the calcium stays behind, so every refill through a Texas summer raises the calcium hardness a little further. Nothing looks wrong for a while. Post oak country is hard on filters

Washington County sits in the Post Oak Savannah, the belt of scattered post oak, blackjack oak and hickory that runs between the blackland prairies and the pine woods. It is why the county looks the way it does, and it is why so many pools here sit under or beside mature oaks.

Oaks are not tidy neighbours for a pool. The spring catkin drop is the one people underestimate: fine, stringy, and produced in enough volume to blind a filter in a week. Skimmer baskets fill faster than owners expect, pressure climbs, flow drops, and the chemistry starts drifting because the water is not turning over properly.
